Seeking out chic homegoods
As an Interior Designer, it has become a major part of my routine to scope out the best home goods including, but not limited to: plates, serving bowls, vases, glassware and more. Check out a few spots that I have sought out over the last few years. Each place is located in Metro Detroit, offers affordable pieces and collects simple, yet unique items that go well in any home.
Leon & Lulu
Leon and Lulu is a home accessories, furnishings and gift shop in Clawson, MI. They are located inside an old roller skating rink and is owned by Mary Liz Curtin and her husband. To this day, the store has the original rink floors. Fun fact: The owners also purchased the building next door, which was the Clawson movie theatre and transformed it into the now restaurant, Three Cats. Check out some of the items I recently scoped out below. And yes, some made their way home with me.
Urbanum
Urbanum, located in Detroit’s New Center was founded by Brigid Beaubien. Her interest in home decor started at a young age and as time went on, her and her husband opened and designed an award winning brewery. While designing the space, Brigid went back to what she truly loves most, design. This lead her to open her store Urbanum. Her passion for vintage eclectic items does not go unnoticed as you walk through the storefront and it is the perfect place for home accessories and heartwarming gifts. Perch
Perch is owned and operated by Molly Patterson and is located in Berkeley, MI. Her love for “worn and proven goods” easily adds a warm touch to any home. Her vintage rugs are one of a kind, durable and add a pop of color or pattern in any space. Beyond area rugs, Molly also sells decor, linens, candles and more. It is the perfect spot to pop in and finish off your home with pillows, throws and maybe a few bowls for your shelves. The images below are from the store website and instagram.
